Once Upon A Time

It always amazes me how powerfully a song can evoke a memory. A full sensory-close your eyes-and you-are-there memory. If I am looking for nostalgia no song can more quickly take me to another time and place the Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart. I think I can remember that track floating around as far back as my 8th grade school year and as a sappy pre-teen, I liked the song. But the moment I return to is one in early September, 1993.
...college...the middle of the night, about 2am...driving across the empty plains of Nebraska...the boy I was painfully in love with...a clear night full of stars...mindlessly talking with the radio providing background...
The boy is gone from my life as is the freedom of that time, Nebraska lies far to the west but the stars remain and sing to me ...once upon a time.
