Paint, Paint, more Paint

It never ceases to amaze me how much differnce a coat of paint can make in a room. And believe me I am in a position to know. Five rooms down. Although I will have to admit that not everything is going according to plan in the paint department. More correctly the problem is that I can't decide what the plan is.

The biggest dilema I have faced it what to do with the kitchen. It has an abundance of lovely wood cabinetry (pecan stained with a nod toward walnut). the counter tops are a tan feathery laminate. There are two west facing windows, so light is a concern. I am really wanting some color there. Unfortunately the colors that I have tried in the tan family don't work. I am afraid going to dark will leave the room feeling dark and closed in. So I took the weak way out, I painted it off white. Which in fact is a great improvement over what was there. I worked hard to repair the wall and fix blemishes that were there. It looks very nice, but doesn't have any wow factor. But it is done and that has to be the primary objective right now.

The dining room is also off-white. In part for lack of a better idea. In part becasue B. thinks that it should be. Again this is a room that I don't have a strong feeling for the "flavor" of the room.

My bedroom is a different story. I wasn't afraid of too much color there. I wanted to go darker in there. There is plenty of morning light, I wanted to room to feel intimate and relaxing. I picked a medium dark green. Alas, when I got it on the walls it was much lighter that I thought. That never happens, paint is almost always darker. But the colors is a gray-green and I like it well enough even though it wasn't what I had in mind.

A.'s room and T's room are done to thier specifications. A. of course wanted yellow. I must admit to being very very very reluctant to aquiesse to her request. However, it turn out wonderful and transforms a dark and dirty feeling room that was sky blue into a bright and virant room, perfect for a little girl.
